Why it’s more important than ever?

Building an effective internal communication policy is a great idea to make the workplace more collaborative, engaged, and productive. Internal communication has a straight impact on the business’s success. Whether it is growing a small or a large business.

Internal communication is all about communication between Top Management, Management, and employees. The way management communicates with the employees has an incredible effect on their productivity, teamwork, employee experience, and finally employee engagement.

Why your internal communication should be your top priority? What are the challenges that most businesses are facing?

  • Open and transparent communication is a great way to make sure your employees understand the company’s mission statement and everyone is associated with the company’s values.

Internal communication affects business in so many different ways including:

    • Day-to-day operations
    • Cross-departmental collaboration
    • Strategic alignment within the company
    • Employee motivation and productivity
    • Customer services
    • Employee experience
    • Company culture
    • Employee engagement, etc.
  • Everyone’s Responsibility – Everyone in the organization is responsible for Internal communication. It has a direct impact on the business’s health. Sometimes we see a big organization is having separate international communication departments and in a small organization, HR is responsible for international communication. However, every department in an organization should feel responsible for internal communication.
  • The Company’s vision, goals, and mission statement – these are very important content that should reach at the right time to right employees. If employees will miss the important information. They may feel frustrated which will impact their morale and productivity.
  • Every employee should have a clear understanding of their role and how their role impacts the company’s success. Always encourage two-way communication to make sure managers and employees are aligned with the company’s vision. The employee’s perception of the organization and their role has a direct impact on their engagement and productivity.
  • It’s important to give your employees a voice. The employees want to feel heard and to be more involved in the internal communication strategy. Encourage employees to write blog posts or make a video to share the idea with their team. It will be helpful to build their leadership thought through content witting.
  • Internal communication may be deeply lacking in most organizations. Although it is so important.

Internal communication challenges that most businesses are facing

  • Changing top-down-only information flow of interdepartmental – Internal communication should be two-way communication. It’s always better to involve employees in the strategy and encourage them to initiate discussions.
  • Paying attention to employee feedback about internal communication – collecting feedback is a good initiative, but HR needs to find ways to implement solutions based on the feedback received from the employees.
  • Reaching and engaging employees, regardless of their location – In the current situation, the maximum number of employees is working remotely. A bit challenging for companies with complex organizational structures to make employees get the right information at the right time.
  • Measuring internal communication efforts on a regular basis – a bit tricky to define the KPIs to track and the ways to collect the data to be able to measure the performance of the strategy in place.
